after letters

Right now thousands of families are dealing with the aftermath of high school offer letters. Some are elated. Some are devastated. Some are grappling with decisions they hadn’t thought through or even considered before.

As I always say to both families and kids, don’t get your heart set on one school. Just because this is a choice system, there is no guarantee that you’ll get the school you picked first, no matter how great a fit you think it’ll be.

I wrote this after my daughter (now a senior) got her offer letter. It still rings true:

I’ll be posting emails I send out up at my blog, so you can keep track of things I’ve written in one place. Once tour season hits, there’s a separate events section that will have dates listed.
