If you’re interested in Beacon, portfolio drop off starts tomorrow and runs through 11/16. info below is copied from their website, or you can find it here:

http://www.beaconschool.org/admissions/admissions-criteria/ - they do a terrific job of laying out exactly what you need and how to submit it,

and their rubric:

Since they are no longer doing interviews, it’s impossible to know if your child made their short (or at least shorter) list.

  • A grade of 85 or above in English, history, science and math on the 7th grade June report card.

  • A score of 3 or higher on the 7th grade NYS ELA test and on the 7th grade NYS math test, if applying from New York City public schools (students applying from private schools must submit ERB scores or an equivalent to the NYCDOE to add to the enrollment system if those tests are offered at the student’s school).

  • An admissions portfolio.

  • Completion of the NYC Department of Education’s High School application by December 3, 2018.
