the importance of cross checking info

A couple of years ago the DOE started a High School Admissions Events Calendar:

which is a terrific idea—it’s meant to be clearing house of info from schools about open houses, tours, even events for incoming students. The challenge is that not all high schools provide their info to the DOE for inclusion. A current example - Bronx Science is having their spring open house on June 6, but the DOE doesn’t have it listed.

On the other hand, I’ve found info about school tours on the DOE calendar that hadn’t been posted on the school’s own website yet. Yet another challenge in this process.

The DOE calendar is a good tool. But I’ve learned to double check info posted there to make sure it’s correct.
