I wrote about this before, but want to make sure it’s on everyone’s front burner. While state test results are usually released mid August, this year they won’t be released until mid September.
This news was buried in a local newspaper months ago. I checked in with the office of high school enrollment and they confirmed that yes, that is true. There were changes to the test and the DOE wanted to make sure there was enough time to grade everything properly. I mentioned that will make it challenging for eighth grade families as test scores are an important part of screened schools admissions rubrics. But, that didn’t change anything.
So, it’s likely you might be signing up for some fall offerings without knowing if your child matches a school’s rubric as you don’t have all their data on hand.
