are you more likely to get in if you tour a school?

I’ve been asked this question and want to make sure everyone knows where things stand right now.

NO! You are not more likely to get into a school if you show interest by signing up at a fair or attending a tour/open house.

Preference used to be given to kids who showed interest, either by signing in with schools at a high school fair, or attending a tour/open house, but the DOE ditched that method (limited unscreened) this year. It wasn’t fair to families, as not everyone can take time to visit schools. Also, it seems schools weren’t actually following the protocol. So, along the way if you anyone tells you that you need to sign in to show interest, that’s not true anymore.
